A Look Back at the Triumph that was the 2008 SSI

Hello to the select few and proud who participate in this blog. I believe there should be a record of what transpires at the games from year to year. So, since I was the keeper of all the results and highlights from this year's event, I wanted to post them - even though it is a great deal of time later. You will, I promise, be stymied by how in-depth these facts are. Please forgive my tardiness...and enjoy.

Scoring System (for 10 players in the 2008 games):

  1. Team events = winner: 3 pts / loser: 0 pts
    Paired events = 1st: 4 pts / 2nd: 3 pts / 3rd: 2 pts / 4th: 1 pt / 5th : 0 pts
  2. Teams for the initial event are randomly chosen. Afterward, teams are determined by the following system, numbers indicating current player rank: Team A = 1, 10, 4, 7, 5 / Team B = 2, 9, 3, 8, 6
  3. Pairings for duo events are determined as follows, numbers indicating current player rank: Team A = 1 & 10 / Team B = 2 & 9 / Team C: 3 & 8 / Team D: 4 & 7 / Team E: 5 & 6
  4. In case of a point tie, advantage is given to player scoring highest in last event.

Last Year

Lawn Bowling, good times

Some are confident to relax like Lisa and Kristen, but Marisa seems to still stay in the game even while sitting down.

One of the many sporting highlights of the day.
Skills and correct form are not needed (as seen above).

Team work and concentration are needed, if one plans on winning the games.

Players walking to the next sporting event. No one is talking to each other, but instead planning out their next move.

Last year's Runner-Up, Timothy. He is looking to win it all this year.
